Om Shanti Om (OSO)

So I am still enjoying the lovely co-incidence of the same seat numbers in the same theatre and what I see is amazing….people keep entering and entering and entering….and the theatre is full in no time….does that mean that OSO has scored over Saawariya? Yes very much and undoubtedly OSO is a winner where the box office window is concerned….call it excessive publicity or over exposure of OSO stars on various media….call it whatever….

Farah Khan has yet again come out a winner with OSO after Main Hoon Na….a film which is a from the heart tribute to the Indian Cinema which we have grown up with….people are saying that it has a uncanny resemblance to Karz so be it yaar….wasn’t the new Don a remake of the old Chandra Barot’s Don…wasn’t RGV ki Aag a remake of Ramesh Sippy’s Sholay…..so on and so forth….so what’s the big deal if OSO resembles Karz or if its climax resembles Madhumati….whatever said and done Farah Khan has done total justice to it and it proves that SRK still has his charm shining amongst his fans….

OSO from the day one was clearly publicized as a filmy film with loud performances and 70’s touch….and I was seriously touched by the opening song of the film which was OSO from Karz and the best thing was to see SRK as an extra in there….the titles were also a tribute to the 70’s….notice the font which is used for the opening credits….i mean I understood from the frame one that I was there to enjoy a film and forget about logics….like a Manmohan Desai film….

The costumes….the make up…the sets….everything was so detailed and perfect and convincing….the polka dots….long collars….the cars used by stars in those days….i mean I connected with it straight away….

Yes the character of Om Prakash Makhija was a bit loud but it was meant to be that way…..his aspirations were to be a superstar someday and so he acted like a star in his real life and his mother being an extra in her younger days also wanted her son to be a star someday since his father also died with a tag of an extra…..there is a kind of black humor which I noticed in OSO….the pathos of the junior artistes…though not clearly shown in the film…which anyway was not the need of Farah’s story….or it would have looked like a documentary film and then the track would have been different but what SRK, Shreyas Talpade and Kiron Kher portrayed was perfect to the T…..

And yes I strongly feel that the Manoj Kumar scene was not done in a good taste….its a famous joke that Manoj saab keeps his face covered with his hand all the time and he struck the similar pose for his license also but the humiliating way its used in the film should have been avoided…..though the dupes of Dharamji….Shatrughan….Rajesh Khanna I thought were again a part of a tribute to Indian Cinema….the Sooraj Barjatya reference was damn hilarious….

The film at various places enlightens the audience of different equipments and methods used while shooting…..like the monitor screen for driving shots….a fan used to blow the hair….etc….

The Film Fare awards ceremony sequence is so convincing with a whole lot of stars from Amitabh Bachchan to Akshay Kumar featuring in it and yes the whole sequence is hilarious and enough to make you fall of your seat laughing….this is the sequence where you actually believe that Om Kapoor is working in the Film Industry unlike other films where a wide shot of a set which is made to believe like an award ceremony is erected and then the camera just focuses on the main artiste winning the award….but here you can actually see the likes of Akshay Kumar…..Abhishek Bachchan….and them emoting to the dialogues on stage as well…..damn funny…..

OSO gives an inner view of the Industry upto a certain point and how stars act pricy on the sets and demand their choices of scripts etc…..in one scene Om Kapoor is heard saying “ye regular roles wagehra rehne do yaar….aaj kal super heroes are in thing let me do a film which portrays me as a super hero” and the next cut is that OM is seen in a superman kind of a dress and he is called the Mohabbat Man….and he flies and saves Malaika Arora….in a filmy way….hllarious…..

Another highlight of the film are its special effects….notice the song where deepika is interacting with Sunil Dutt….Rajesh Khanna and Jeetendra where she even pinches Jeetendra and he reacts to her…..amazing stuff….

SRK as Om Makhija looks convincing and uses the sindhi dialect pretty well….though he doesn’t look like a junior artiste but what the hell Farah Didi makes us believe somehow or the other that he is a junior artiste….he hams at various places but he was meant to do that….he looks dashing and cool when he is reborn as Om Kapoor….his nakhra as a super star of 2007 are damn neatly portrayed….on the whole SRK fits the bill….

Deepika Padukone as Shantipriya too does well and she looks confident….though she has minimum things to do in the film but whatever she does is pretty convincing….she looks glamorous when she makes a entry again as Sandy or Sandhya….

Kiron Kher is good yet again and does exactly what was briefed to her…..

Shreyas Talpade is amazing and impresses in that role of Pappu Master and that too an important one…..

Arjun Rampal…..is good and confident…..looks convincing…..

And the whole lot of film stars who have participated in the film….the list is endless…..and the directors too….oh my god so many of them…..awesome way to incorporate all of them and that too with a concept…..the highlight song of the film has to be with the stars…deewangi deewangi….mindblowing….who to praise here and who not to…..difficult choice…..

Art Director Sabu Cyril does a fantastic job by creating the look of the 70’s…to good…and V.Manikanandan’s cinematography lends an able support to the Art Director’s hard work…the cinematographer does a good job and the film looks rich….

The editor Shirish Kunder also does a fantastic job and keeps the pace going….the interval will make you say…array itna dekh liya kya…very fast and so is the second half….pacy…..atleast as an editor I did not notice a place which needed to be chopped or sharpened….good job….

Dialouges though needed to be a bit more worked upon….but nonetheless good…

The music is pretty good too….aankhon mein teri ajab si is too melodious…..the pick of the lot though have to be Dard-E-Disco and Deewangi Deewangi….Dard-E-Disco bieng a tribute to this era where item numbers are popular and so a song like Dard-E-Disco with senseless lyrics but which feel good….Vishal Shekhar have done a total justice to the music and Vishal toh even features in the film as a director of one of Om Kapoor’s films called Mohabbat Man…..

Guys don’t miss the end titles of the film…..very well executed till the last frame….

Farah as a director does a superb job and churns out her total filmy film experience in OSO and does it well…..the only mantra she knew while making OSO was logic wogic rehne do yaar…ek achchi film banao jo logon ko pasand bhi aaye aur paise bhi kamaye…..toh bhaiya she has done exactly that…..OSO logon ko pasand bhi aayi aur paise bhi kamaye….

For me it was a full on paisa wasool film at the end of the day….and I was convinced with the directors point of view may be because I kept reading a lot about the film and let me tell u that neither I am a Farah Khan Fan or a hardcore Shahrukh Khan Fan…..but if somebody has done a good job it shows and it much more clearly shows at the collection windows…..don’t look for faults in OSO because the director takes u on a successful trip with her and leaves u back safe with a VFM (Value For Money)….

And that’s what counts yaar….

So to end….

go and enjoy this film and say

Om Shanti Om”

SAAWARIYA

Ok so here I am with my notes on one of the much awaited film of 2007 by the master creater Sanjay Leela Bhansali (SLB)….

there’s this pleasant experience which I want to share with u guys….i wanted to watch both OSO and Saawariya back to back and when I bought the tkts…the seat numbers and screen numbers for both the films were SCREEN 6 C -14 / 15 / 16 / 17 so which meant that when I finished watching Saawariya I had to jus sit back and relax till OSO started at the same place…..interesting na?

So to begin with when I entered the screen 6 (Jubilee Screen) of fame adlabs malad, Mumbai on a tuesday….i found people walking in, in lots but yeh kya just b4 the lights went dim I could notice only 30-40 people occupying the seats and that was it….then I thot that may be it was a working day so that response….we will come back to this later….

People have written here so much about Saawariya so may be u vil get bored reading them here too all over again….i better not touch it and give my own conclusions which I made after the preview….

A simple boy meets girl incidental story but the girl loves somebody else and the prostitute loves the boy….the outline of the story…..

But narrative of this whole story is what I want to discuss out here….the film starts with a wide frame of a city which looks straight out of a comic book…..unbelieveable but colorful….then follows the visual of a never b4 seen bar which is larger than life and which even has a short cut to moon along with it (refer to the huge set of moon created with a staircase) and a husky voice over of our very own Rani Mukerji who plays Gulabji a prostitute once again….the way she narrates the story I straight away started to feel that it was SLB trying to explain me (or spoon feed me!!!) what I was about to experience….that I was about to experience the extravaganza of thoughts…colors and emotions in a world created specially by SLB for me….anyways I knew I was about to be enthralled with the magic of SLB in a very short time from then….

The film started and I experienced what I had come there for....the sheer magic of SLB…his mind blowing photographic sense…his amazing imagination of the sets….the grandness of the whole silver screen which belonged to just SLB…SLB and SLB…but after a while when I could not adjust myself in that unknown and unnamed city and those fantastically designed sometimes dark and sometimes blue and green locales which had the seasons of their own....i started to look for the story and the story was quite an easy one to predict after the girl discloses that she liked someone else….and then onwards it is only jealousy ….heartbreaks…an unending wait….reconcilliation and again a heartbreak….seen umpteen times on the screen through different eyes and this time through the poetic eyes of a magic man….

Ravi K Chandran has done some superb cinematography…..its a beautiful painting or a poetry being painted on a silver screen….the director demanded from him a particular tone which he delivered at ease for him….amazing job….the carpet beating scene of sonam…..the boat sequence where sonam is lying on the boat with an umbrella in her hand….the running sequences of Ranbir and Sonam….just simply great….

Omung Kumar is the guy who needs to be mentioned here for sure he has done something which the others might be still craving for and how well has he lived upto the expectations of his director….very creative and arty….he was let loose and how well did he justify each penny spent....but at few places I felt he has gone overboard with his imagination like those paintings (Too many of them) on various walls distract viewing…..and even the base of the bridge which had those floral carvings were too visible and hence felt goddy if they were may be of a low opacity then it might have worked….i don’t know I feel so…otherwise a brilliant work by an intelligent man and he is sure to be signed on by some biggies soon….Understanding the directors vision and then executing it perfectly is a thing which needs a standing ovation for OK…..

Music is another integral part of the film….very melodious but 9 songs get too much to handle….Kunal Ganjawalla is sounding so different in this film and very refreshing too….as an album Saawariya will find many takers….Monty has done a good job as a music director….knowing that he scored the background music for black and which fetched him this film and that too to score the music…..woww!!!!

Now let me come to the performers…

Ranbir has a lot of potential in him and he will rock in the near future….he dances well…acts well but looks so so….he emotes at certain places like he is a man who has been in love so many times….perfect for his role….also reminds us of Raj Kapoor at various places….

Sonam….promising and a gud actress looks raw at few places may be those were the first shots she gave for the film….she resembles Waheeda Rehman a lot at many places….but she seriously lacks the grace of bieng a SLB’s Heroine…. What I also observed in the film was if Sakina (Sonam) is from an orthodox muslim family then does her dressing sense suit her….revealing low necks and all….

Zohra Sehgal a regular good performer and an intelligent woman….at this age she performs with an energy of a youngster…an acting institute in herself…

Begum Para….very little screen time given to her so cant judge if she was gud or bad but whatever she did was good….

Salman Khan…Imaan se…..what was he doing there by the way? May be star attraction tactic applied by SLB :-) (Pun Intended)

Rani Mukerji….good performance….regular best but overacting at few places just to make herself feel good about the fact that she has been chosen for the 2nd time by the master maker….

but what I felt when the screening got over that was I there to enjoy and be a part of a nice film or was I there to applaud the mastery of SLB….

I don’t even want to mention the comments people were passing while watching the film….one guy even went out in anger to take his refund…..

In no way am I demeaning the film but leave the general audience apart but if I talk about my experience then I liked few things in the film and I liked the scenes where Ranbir is talking to Zohra Sehgal on fone and letting her know that Sakina is coming home….or for that sake the climax scene where Ranbir is trying to stop Sonam again and again….the film definitely reminds me of Raj Kapoor at places and even the Bar which is named RK in a sense is hint that SLB has a bit of RK in him….the sets are out of this world….larger than life and beautiful…..

i will not comment on the tone and color of the film and sets here because the director might have decided that depending on the story and I personally feel that why a blue tone was an integral part of the film was because it signifies love…..and the black tone signified the sadness which comes as a package deal with love and the green tone was the enjoyment one feels while in love…..but to tell u the fact after a while those sets….those tones….those dark costumes everything gets a bit too much to digest…..

on the whole I did not enjoy the film that much as I could not adjust myself in SLB’S world this time but may be some of u enjoy it but like me the general audience too is refusing to enjoy it....

the irony is that it is the general audience only who decides the fate of a movie worldwide every friday…..and that was the reason why my same seats for the next show in the same theatre witnessed a house full in OSO even on a working day….

if you r a hardcore fan of SLB and larger than life sets and also wanna enjoy Saawariya go for it but if u wanna c Saawariya Out Of Curiosity….then please dont crib for ur refund during the movie.... :-)

Jab We Met (JWM)

This was my second film yesterday which I saw back to back with No Smoking and believe me guys what luck I decided to watch NS first and then JWM later…..the scene in the theatre was a totally different one from what I experienced while watching NS…the screen number 1 of fame malad which is huge in size than the screen 5 was packed to a full house from row number A to Row number N…..

Jab We Met is a story which u might have seen in several other Indian flicks but still it stands out and the whole credit should go to Imtiaz Ali the young director….he has treated the film so well that it looks full of energy….the opening few minutes of the film may be a bit slow but the moment Kareena takes the screen space its on fire….the first half has its share of gripping moments….humor….and all that…..which does not mean that the second half is dull or falls flat but there again is its own share of humour….some emotional moments….and good pieces of performances…..

It’s a typical boy meets girl and fall in love on a journey kinda saga but the way the screenplay goes it looks like the interval point should have been the end of the film but it has more…..lemme tell you that the journey is quite refreshing and the instances which let Shahid and Kareena meet look genuine and believable…..in all a straight script with not too much tension on the audiences head and no much of thinking business….but instead a nice dose of light humor and brilliant performances by Shahid and Kareena….thier best so far….what brilliant chemistry between them yaar its amazing…..who says that they are not made for each other but whatever happened in their real life is sad though….while watching the film you feel that they must get together again in real life too….

Imtiaz Ali is one director who promises to give some more good stuff in the future and his films will make people wait….his treatment and simple shot taking is the thing that pleases the eye and touches you….

The cameraman has done some excellent piece of photography looks neat….

The dialogue writer is another person who needs a special mention here who has tried to keep the dialogues in their simplest shape and yet they sound so humorous and meaningful at places…..evoke laughter at various places….i am not kidding but I heard people laughing aloud and clapping too at not one but various sequences….that’s what you call entertainment….paisa vasool types…..

The music is very catchy…..ye ishq haaye baithe bithaaye jannat dikhaaye is melodious and the best justification is given to it by the director and cameraman…all compliment each other so well…Kareena does a good job too while performing on this one….the uniformity of the dancers at various places and that too not those regular filmi dancers but locals hired who look authentic and do a good job too….the other highlight song of the film is bound to be Nagada Nagada Nagada Baja…..again picturised well and you have to notice the energy of Shahid in this song he dances so well and with such great energy that you feel that he must have had a crate full of Red Bulls before every shot…..then there is Maujaan hi Maujaan which is again picturised so well but its used in the end for the end titles….notice the dancing of Kareena and Shahid here too….

Kareena Kapoor needs a special mention for this film she has come out so natural so natural that she makes you believe that she is Geet Kaur from Bhatinda….her talkative nature is the one you will fall in love with and the spontaneity with which she performs is great….notice her at the hotel decent reception waala scene when they are about to check into the hotel….its hilarious…..then inside the hotel room the karate brown belt waala scene she is good there too….and the best is when Shahid and Kareena are walking on the lonely roads of Ratlam city….notice her natural and energetic performance….notice her in the scene where she is facing Shahid and she says kya Anshuman aa raha hai….kya who hamien dekh raha hai…..atleast I never found Kareena so good in any other movie apart from Omkara where she had a very different kinda role to play…..here she is talkative….vibrant….energetic…bubbly….well behaved loud all mixed in one…..surely one of the best performances ever delivered by her

Shahid Kapoor surprises everyone with a brilliant controlled performance…..he has acted so well that you start liking him instantly….his performance is so real and so good that you sometimes feel for his character….he keeps you engrossed in his performance…..looks boyish where needed looks matured where needed…does full justice to what the director expected of him to do….though most of the good dialogues are with Kareena but Shahid does not make you feel this a bit and adds his own touch where needed at the right time….notice him in the scene where he jus walks off after he gets fedup of blah blah from Kareena in the train…..then when Kareena meets him again at Ratlam station…..then again at the hotel Decent reception when he talks to the manager at the counter….he is just brilliant at various places

Rest of the cast ably supports the film and does a good job….special mention here for Pawan Malhotra for yet another good and genuine performance…..his Punjabi accent is very convincing…..

The film in its second half needs a trimming of about 5-7 minutes if not more to keep it tight….and I felt Kareena’s makeup a bit patchy in the scene where both of them are sitting on that small bridge and Kareena tells Shahid to jump in the water…..Shahid’s costumes are good and youthful throughout the film…but I wonder y Kareena could not avoid those peeping tops most of the time in the film....

All in all a feel good film by a young maker…..sure to give us ample lot of same entertainers In the near future….a paisa vasool kind of a Romantic Comedy….go watch it and come out smiling at the end of the movie….

Jab We Met is a cute film…..

No Smoking (NS)

Good looking John Abraham…..some excellent photography….a sometimes fat and sometimes slim looking Ayesha Takia….vague underground sets….confusingly woven storyline and visuals by an intellectual for an intellectual and a slow pace is what u get in return of your Rs.180 worth multiplex ticket…..oh ya and don’t forget ur expenses for those costly snacks which u bought from the counter….so that makes about Rs. 400 right?....be ready to experience a new wave in Indian cinema….not criticizing it by any means but a serious attempt of making a film which is in a genre of its own….hard to digest by the regular audiences but for the people who love this kind of a hollywood cinema they surely are going to enjoy this one….

I had seen Babel and the screenplay was very tedious but the storyline was pretty simple and easy to relate to the events happening in the film….saw irreversible which has a reverse screenplay still digestable but No Smoking takes you on some other trip that of Anurag Kashyap and his protagonist K (John Abraham)….seriously NS is not my kind of cinema which is why I found it confusing though I was trying hard to understand things as they were happening on the screen….like “main tub mein se hi kyun nikalta hun har baar”…..and also how was Baba Bangali was able to record every move of every smoker and show it to the smoking addict on a vhs tape and also along with a calculator amounting to the money he has wasted on smoking till date…..the step by step punishment to John and when in the climax he is shown with his two fingers chopped….did it mean that actually john had tried to smoke twice as the first punishment was that he will lose his brother which he does and the second was that he loses his two fingers….

It’s a nice fictional world created where you notice a call centre with burka clad ladies and high tech devices are used to take handprints in a slum looking Prayogshaala and then fingers get attached to one’s hand like a magical act….i mean its all so confusing that one keeps figuring out as to what is happening…..Answers to these are much awaited and what more…the director leaves the final decision making on the audience which is more burdensome….is Baba Bangali a baba or a doctor is on you to decide…..

Now when reading this post please keep in mind that I have no grudges against anybody or no doubt about the intelligence of the person reading this post…this is purely what I think and my views….people may differ with my opinion but no debates or arguments intended……

AK has been a good writer all through and I have seen Black Friday so many times but there was seriously something mising in “No Smoking” and normal people or the audience calls it a STORY. But sorry guys I may be one of those who does not understand this kind of cinema….My kind of cinema is to reach out to people and narrate your story to them in such a way that they should feel that they have become a part of the story….and especially to an audience who goes to the same theatre to watch other commercial flicks and loves them irrespective of their repeated storylines…different treatment styles by various directors etc….

i am definetly expecting some frowning faces right now who are reading this post but my point of discussion is exactly the same that I did not like NS so its not necessary that u too vil not like it…..its just a matter of getting our point of views across…so that u know what I did not like in the film and I know what u liked in the film…..

U guys already know how much I liked Black Friday (For those new can refer to my one of the first reviews of BF)…..and I loved AK’s work in there and one more thing which I have always said and maintained is that Anurag still has to make a mark for himself as a director at the box office since he is only one released film old….and some of his works are still awaiting release….its very overwhelming to see a director who is hell bent on making his kind of cinema which he believes in….good and commendable but then just do that make ur kind of cinema and don’t bother what the whole world is doing…..

I was very disheartened to see the screen number 5 of fame malad filled with only 50-60 people on its 1st day of release….You all might be thinking what has suddenly happened to Rajeev and why is he on a rampage of AK today but read this carefully and you will know that one has a full right to speak his heart out for the one he likes and how it has a connection with the response to NS so i now refer to the Mumbai Mirror article of yesterday where Anurag spoke some rude words about Kjo and Koffee With Karan….i mean….this may be one side of Anurag’s nature which is working against him….in most of his articles he lashes out at the commercial camps and mainly Yashraj and Kjo…for what….arrey they are commercial makers and successful ones with more than one film to their credit and they have proven themselves time and again at the box office with super duper hits….if Anurag does not like their style of film making then it’s his personal decision why does he have to get it in the print and be so verbal about it….

My whole point to say all this was that with the kind of outbursts he has in media surely reduces his audiences….and don’t be surprised guys if may be in future Anurag is referred to as a Film Festival arena director or a documentary film maker, I do not mean to demean the brilliant AK but my motive of saying this is that he has to create a balance between his work and his media write ups against certain people in the film industry so that his kind of cinema is accepted by a wide audience….tell me who does not like changes….and Anurag is making a definite attempt to create a different kind of cinema but at the same time blocking his route by these uncalled for statements which he is known for against his own industry men…..

I seriously m waiting for all those die hard fans of AK who have found some deep philosophical meaning in this movie which will be now passed on to me in following posts & then make me feel that I am a beginner where AK kind of cinema is concerned J

In a nutshell guys I found No Smoking very self-indulgent….movies for me are a medium that have to keep the viewer in mind….if you cannot get your point across then you are making a movie for yourself or the people close to you….

No Smoking is a very dark film….a very different genre of film attempted by Anurag Kashyap…..watch it if you guys like vague paintings….vague foods….have vague habits….or else it’s a waste of money….

Duniya Meri Jeb Mein (DMJM – 1979)

Guys I saw this movie last night on cable….it released around 1978 or 1979 I remember coz we had jus shifted to Mumbai and we used to see this films songs on chayageet……which I will mention in the music section….

It was really interesting to read the directors name and it was TINNU ANAND…..man this guy has been making movies for ages now na….anyways the movie brought back some nostalgic memories to my mind….i was glued to the tv set right from the beginning titles till the most common slate of the days gone by “THE END” really….

The movie considering the style and the pattern of movies which were made then in the late 70’s and early 80’s was a good one but I don’t think that these subjects have any scope in today’s times of reality cinema and modern takings…..

It’s a story about Karan (Shashi Kapoor) who is a truthful and principled man working in a circus as a trapeze artiste with his partner Rawat (Ranjeet) and Karan is supporting his brother Vishal (Rishi Kapoor) by financing him for his studies but has hidden the fact that he is a trapeze artiste but instead created a rosy picture of his brother being a big businessman….Vishal falls in love with Neeta (Neetu Singh)….things take a turn when Vishal decides to go to U.S.A for further studies and Karan wants to fulfill his wish but does not have enough money….thats the time when he takes up a daredevil stunt job at the circus along with his partner Rawat….at the end of the show he is paid only Rs500 which he finds very discouraging….our very own Villain of older days Mr.Pinchoo Kapoor is sitting and enjoying the show and he contacts Rawat and hires him for a robbery at Gulabchands (Neetu Singh’s Father) place but Rawat suggests that he needs another man to help him and knowing Karans nature they both play a trick and convince Karan to help them…..when Karan knows of the robbery he protests but Rawat is adamant and just then gulabchand enters and Rawat kills him….and absconds from there leaving Karan in a lurch….Karan tries to stop Rawat but in vain…..in this huffle scuffle Karan meets with an accident and loses both his legs….Our very own interesting character of yesteryears Sudhir enters the scene who is the investigating inspector and trying to gather the strings to the murder and the robbery…..and then when Vishal comes to know the truth about his brother being a trapeze artiste and what sacrifices he has done to make Vishal study….Vishal pledges that he will take Karans revenge with Rawat and this forms the climax of the story.

Film does not have much in it but if you want to enjoy a 70-80’s flick then this might be the one…..nice comedy punches at places which look very repeated today but considering the time the film was released must have been new ones….youthful romance of Vishal and Neeta…..good music…..some emotional scenes…some good action scenes….hero jumping from the ground to the 3rd floor…the sound of fights (Bikhoom Bikhoom) some car chases….some scenes where looks that the actors are hamming…but its all ok….if you have always loved Hindi masala movies you will like this one too….

Performance wise everyone is good….specially Shashi Kapoor…..Rishi is at his romantic best along with Neetu Singh…Ranjeet is also good and the best part is that his character slowly takes a shape of a villain which looks good in the film…..

The music is the highlight of the film….its from one of my all time favs Rajesh Roshan…..boss I have downloaded the video songs of the film today from youtube for you guys to listen and enjoy the maestro’s creation…..when the songs used to feature on our very own CHAAYAGEET on Thursdays at 8pm my fav from DMJM were ”thokar pe hai sara zamana jo ban jaye mera nishana mushkil hai uska bach paana….kyunki sari ki saari ye duniya meri jeb mein” And then it was “Maine toh maangi hai bas yeh dua….tere jaisa bhai sab ko mile”…..there is another song which when I heard yesterday I recollected it “Dekh Mausam Keh Raha hai….” Guys hear these songs once and you will know what I am trying to say about RR he is so much next to Pancham Da but still have his own style of music….the music arrangement the use of instruments and the way he used to make his singers sing the song…..gr8 simply gr8…..

If u get a chance to have a look at this film pls do it for the sake of 70’s and 80’s…..

Not woth buying a DVD of but u may catch it on one of the channels anytime….till then enjoy the songs which are evergreen…..

Bhool Bhulaiya (BB)

guys so here i am with another review of a film.....

i saw BB at fame malad inorbit on the 4th day of its release as i did not get the tkts of the 1st day any show so had to settle for the next available day....the theatre was almost house full....which is quite evident why the film is doing good business....

but one thing which delighted me was it was not one of those silly laugh riots of current times which priyadarshan is known for.....

the promos are misleading all the way.....as they portray it as a comedy film...which it is not but yes there is enuf humour value in it and good punches at places....which evoke genuine laughter....and some are repeated gags but its ok....unless and untill the film keeps u gripped on the pushback seats.....

surely this is an unexpected film from the stable of priyadarshan.....i recieved few sms's after the release of BB saying its not upto the mark and all that stuff....but i feel the people who sent me these sms's expected a laugh riot and which is why they were dissappointed shayad?

friends if u r going to watch BB after reading this review then pls dont expect BB to be a laugh riot coz then u vil be dissappointed for sure....instead its a pshyco thriller and an honest attempt of good film making with enuf laughter element in it.....i think this film is doing what Aitraz did to the Indian audiences.....

the film has enuf thrill in it and atleast it seriously gave me goose bumps at certain points....

Akhshay and Vidya Balan are the highlight of the film.....rest of the starcast has supported in an able manner....

Apart from few drawbacks and loopholes in the story the film is very gripping and fairs well....

and to end this short review of mine i would stress on one point and that is "its a pshyco thriller and not an out and out laugh riot pleasee....."

there is enuf content in the film to keep u glued to your seat.....

a must watch

Laaga Chunri Mein Daag (LCMD)

Big Posters and Gud Promos dont always make a Good Film....LCMD is a big letdown nd a total no no for all.....

believe me u.....Julie (Neha Dhupia Starrer was a far better story on the same lines)....

it seems Mr.Aditya Chopra who is as it is in a awe of the lead star and the protagonist was deeply responsible for this debacle as he might have been worried ki Rani ka character kaisa hoga and he only worried about this and messed with the film.....

not impressive at all DADA (Mr.Pradeep Sarkar).....

Abhishek Bachchan in the film for only 6 scenes.....not done.....

songs i mean music...was there something at all.....

for yrf the film shud be LAAGA CATALOUGE MEIN EK AUR DAAG......

Heyy Baby

lack of time is not allowing me to write lengthier reviews so i hope u guys undstnd......

i found HB just a bit ok.....with a few 1 liners which make u laugh and other humour was the regular one straight out from the personal backyard of slapstick Sajid Khan.....a whole bunch of female star friends of Sajid featuring in one song...Shahrukh making a spcl appearence in one song.....

you cant say that Sajid doesn't have a hold on the medium...yes he does have.....but i am sure as Sajid becomes a serious film maker after this film and learns to take on the responsibility of a 40 crore film....he will do justice to his next venture.....

the chord which struck with the audiences and which sajid was lucky about is that the film in its totallity is not a laugh riot but at places genuinely becomes serious and emotional when it has to.....like the baby in the hospital waala sequence.....any parent would cry on those scenes.....then when three of them come and say sorry to the baby by touching her feet....u have to be a parent to understand what u go thru even when ur kid is hurt a minimum also......

bas leaving all this the film is ok ok.....

Akhshay is just superb.....amazing and excellent.....

Ritesh is good but looks artificial at certain places while emoting sad scenes.....

Fardeen is good too but looks atleast 6-7 kgs overwieght....

Vidya Balan is good but too loud at places....and god !!! some one go get her a dietician please she looks plump and fat as though she is around 8-9 kgs overwieght which is a lot for a woman.....

i strongly think that a chopping of 10-12 minutes would do good to the film now also after knowing that its doing good business all over.....

an ok film.....worth watching once.....its not a waste of money.....dont go with gr8 expectations from the movie.....

Chak De India

This is very very unlike my other reviews but this is what i exactly felt after watching the film yesterday.....

Awesome....fantastic....brilliant.....superb.....

ooh i am speechless....seriously.....

Kabir Khan is the pick of the lot yaar......

a must must must watch for every Indian....

Kabir speaks from his eyes and so do the other team members.....

i am just short of words....

its not a film its an experience in itself....

thats it.....

i think i still need time to get over it and that will happen only if i see it again and that too soon.....so some more notes soon frndz....

i cried watching certain scenes coz i felt for my country....especially the climax.....

CHAK DE INDIA....
